Australia 2, Sierra Leone 0

Chris McHugh, Australia – “We had to keep an eye on that (other Pool K) match for sure. We knew the outcome definitely helped sort out our pool. It was a good win against Sierra Leone today, we knew we had to win no matter what and we won pretty convincingly so it puts us in a pretty good spot for the next round. We’re happy to get to the round of 32 and it’s going to be a hard round no matter who it is so we’re looking forward to the challenge.”

Damien Schumann, Australia – “It does heaps (for our confidence). We really wanted to play strongly because if we just won, it would be a little bit shaky so we knew we had to come out strong. Second place was on the line. The wind is very stop-start. I don’t know why but it’s quite gusty and at the last moment when the ball’s in the air, it can move. On the warmup court you take a little bit more notice and then once you start playing it’s not too bad. I think I had more focus when I was on the bad side because I don’t want to leave too many points down there.”
