Karla Borger, Germany – “It’s kind of funny because it’s Deutschland vs. Deutschland and we’re in Group D. It doesn’t matter at all because we haven’t played that many games all season and we always ask to play the country quota so it’s good. And nobody goes out so it’s a fair country quota. We played really good on block defense. I felt pretty comfortable in moving on defense and we dug a lot of balls we did good stuff in the right moment.”
Maggie Kozuch, Germany – “It was really tight. The first game in a tournament is always a difficult and also against the Germans. It was the first time to play in an official match against them. We were a little bit nervous, which is normal, and I think they were as well. Until 15-15 we went point by point. It looks like we won 21-16 and 17 so it looks like it was easy but it was not. I’m really happy we could somehow keep calm, go forward and be patient and not to maybe freak out because we want to make like three points in one instead of step by step. I was really happy about that.”
