Pedro Solberg, Brazil – “I am so happy just to be in one more World Championships, this is my sixth one. I have played on the World Tour for 11 years and I am still playing at a high level, so I am not here just to participate. We have a good chance to make it. It’s been a dream of mine since I was a kid to be a professional athlete and I am so excited to be here. I had some injuries, my shoulder was really bad after Gstaad. It was like a marathon for us – we played 13 days in a row with two straight country quotas. My shoulder was really bad after that so I was not ready at all for Poland. Now I am in good shape. This format really helps, I am happy that tomorrow we have a break and then another day off.”
Jamaine Naidoo, South Africa – “At first it was really nerve-wracking. Once I got on the court with the support and the crowd it was really exciting to be there. Playing against a top team is not very easy. We fought but we need to get a better start. On our day off we are going to do some video analysis and see what their favorite shots are.”
Leo Williams, South Africa – “It is definitely an advantage that other teams do not have a lot of information on us, so they don’t know what our favorite things are. But their advantage is they have been playing at this level for a very long time. For us to bridge that gap at this level is quite a feat.”
