Canada defeats Indonesia 2-0

Sam Pedlow, Canada – “As a team we have always confidence.  Our goal every week is to keep improving on our results.  It was great to podium in Long Beach but in our hearts we know we can come here and fight for a medal.  Coming off one of the most dense Olympic qualifications in a few cycles, it’s nice to have a little bit of a slower pace this year.  I find it a blessing, my body feels better this year than it has in a long time.  I like this schedule.  I wouldn’t want to do it for four years but the year after the Olympics, it’s okay.”

Sam Schachter, Canada – (on the format of the World Championships) “Definitely tough to establish a new routine when you’ve been training and competing a certain way the whole year.  In the past majors its actually been a kind of light schedule.  So it’s an adjustment for sure, but it’s an easier adjustment than having to play more games.  We are just making sure we stay active on our off days, taking care of ourselves, and making sure we’re prepared for the competition.  It’s also better for the fans, because you are getting better teams playing, with more energy.  You have a fresh team versus a fresh team so the winners are like the most skilled, not the most enduranced team.”

Ade Rachmawan, Indonesia – “It’s exciting to be part of this.  I have played since January and as a team we have played together three months.”
