Canadians post 2-0 win over Italy

Sarah Pavan, Canada – "Their body language showed a little bit of frustration and when that happens we’re thinking to keep the pressure on because out here all it takes is a couple points for them to get their feeling back. We wanted to make sure we stayed consistent when we got our chances and we did. Our goal obviously is to win every match in pool to get us ready for playoffs. China’s a good team and we haven’t seen them that much here at all so we’re taking them very seriously. We want to go 3-0 and solidify a first-place spot going into playoffs."

Melissa Humana-Paredes, Canada – Consistency. We did a good job of managing the elements, not that it was too, too windy out there but we used the wind a little bit to our advantage for sure and managed each side. Our serve was a big threat and they struggled with their pass and that made it easier for us to defend. We played a pretty solid game."

Becky Perry, Italy – "There’s a reason why they’re No. 2 in the world, I’ll say that. But we didn’t play well. They’re a new team but both of them are incredibly experienced. It’s hard to put them in difficulty in sideout because they’re really good at finding solutions even when they don’t pass well. That’s tough. They sided out well and we didn’t."
