Barbora Hermannova, Czech Republic – “It’s never easy, but we stayed in our game that we wanted to play. We were strong on the service. In the first set, it worked very well. In the second, we lost a little bit and didn’t serve as hard as in the first one but we were still fighting for the balls and when we could make a point, we did. When you win the pool here, it doesn’t matter for the seeding much. It means you can have an easier draw for the eliminations but I think it was expected it would be between us and Finland for first spot. We are looking forward to playing them because for sure it will be a tight game. We know each other very well.”
Marketa Slukova, Czech Republic – “It was actually that close (18-17 in the second) because they made some good balls and we made a few errors. We were not consistent and not pressuring them so much on the service so they could catch a little bit of rhythm. But we knew if we played our game --- of course, there can come some type of ace or something --- and stayed really focused, that was the thing we wanted to do on our side and it worked out in the end.”
