Theodore Brunner, USA – “I have played Leo a number of times, and I knew he could play. And I saw on video that his partner could play and they are super athletic. We decided to come out and have fun, but we knew it would be a tough match and that we couldn’t take them lightly. It was fun watching Casey and Leo talk to each other during the match. I wouldn’t be surprised to see more talking against Brazil. I know Pedro can get a little fiery and obviously Casey can. They are friends off the court but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a tight match if they start yelling at each other. I will just wait in the wings, watch, observe, play my game and enjoy it.”
Casey Patterson, USA – “That team, to give them credit, is very good. Along with that, we’ve never seen them ever play before. They have the advantage of having a lot of information on us and we don’t have any on them. So maybe that is what the first set was, them being unfamiliar to us and then also them playing very well and guys who can score some points. To have 2-0 against 2-0, it makes it more fun for this match on Wednesday against Brazil. Seedings and matchups are more a part of this game than anyone knows or thinks about. When you get some good matchups and get teams that you are confident against, it’s a good match for everyone. Seedings is huge, it’s a big part of the game.”
Jamaine Naidoo, South Africa – “A little bit disappointing because it was close in the first set, and we were tied 18-18. I think we just fell apart in the next set. But for the next game we will be more prepared, it’s getting better game by game.”
Leo Williams, South Africa – “I think the used their experience in the second set. It was really tight in the first set. Our learning point is to keep at it, we always play under pressure and we just want to do that in the next game. We will be playing Austria in front of a big crowd so we will be under pressure but so will they are the home team.
