It was the first FIVB World Tour meeting between the two teams.
Germany wins Pool B with a 3-0 record and Spain finishes in 2nd place at 2-1. Also in Pool B, Cuba's Lidiannis Echeverria/Leila Martinez finished in 3rd place with a 1-2 record and Andrea Galindo/Claudia "Gorda" Galindo of Colombia finished in 4th at 0-3.
Both Germany and Spain have advanced to the knockout phase and will play Wednesday, 2 August.
