Agatha/Barbara reigned over compatriots Taiana Lima and Fernanda Alves for the women’s gold, and Juliana Felisberta Da Silva and Maria Antonelli finished with a bronze.

Fernanda showed why her team deserved a spot on the podium, exerting her efforts at the net on the block and a strong spike to end play.

Alison/Bruno outplayed the Netherlands’ Reinder Nummerdor and Christiaan Varenhorst for the men’s gold, while their compatriots Pedro Solberg and Evandro Goncalves routed Nick Lucena and Theo Brunner of the United States for the bronze.

The Dutch pair managed to get some great plays from Nummerdor, who was all over the court to keep the ball in play.

Alison/Bruno cultivated dynamic chemistry on court, showing toughness in defence and the ability to finish rallies in great fashion.

Agatha/Barbara also displayed resilience in long rallies. In their semifinal match against Maria Antonelli/Juliana, Agatha’s great pick-up enabled Barbara to set her up for a soft spike.
