After competing for nine seasons in 86 FIVB World Tour events (one gold medal, 10 podium placements and 16 “final four” finishes), including two Olympic appearances, with Mariusz Prudel, Fijalek split with his longtime partner for the 2017 season. Fijalek and the 22-year old Bryl secured their 2017 FIVB World Championship berth via their international rankings. Bryl will be competing in his first world championship while the 30-year old Fijalek placed fifth, 17th and 17th in the last three worlds with Prudel. Bryl teamed with Kacper Kujawiak, Prudel’s new partner, to win FIVB youth world titles in 2012 (under 19) and 2014 (under 21). Before placing 17th at the Rio 2016 Olympics, Fijalek and Prudel finished fifth in the London 2012 Summer Games where the Poles were eliminated in three sets by eventual silver medal winners Alison Cerutti and Emanuel Rego.
