In playing in their first-ever FIVB World Tour event, the Indonesian pair qualified for the 2017 FIVB World Championships via the Asian continental qualifying rounds. The 2017 FIVB World Championships will be Ashfiya and Rachmawan’s first-ever appearance in a FIVB World Tour event. The pair has posted two seconds and a third on the 2017 Asian circuit. While Rachmawan started playing on the Asian tour in 2012, Ashfiya began playing in 2013 when he teamed with Rendy Verdian to win the confederations under-21 title. Ashfiya and Verdian also placed 17th at the 2013 FIVB under-19 World Championships before winning five of seven matches at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games to place ninth.
