Canada defeats Venezuela 2-0

Heather Bansley, Canada – “It worked well for us. They gave up a lot of points but we wanted to stay focused on our side of the court and improve on a few things and we were able to do that.  (On calling timeout early in the second). We had a long rally, we were scrambling and having some fun and then we gave up the next point and we just wanted a nice breather. Just reset. (On facing Switzerland in the final Pool J match) They’ve had a good season and they’re a good team. They’re kind of a similar make-up to us with a big blocker and fast, quick defender. I think it will be very competitive. Our goal is to win our pool."

Brandie Wilkerson, Canada – "We wanted to improve on our pass-set consistency, executing the shots we want, making sure we’re communicating right. Those are all things where it doesn’t matter who’s on the other side of the net that we have to do."
