Buenos Aires, Argentina, October 6, 2016 - The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in 2017 will be hosted by Vienna, the capital of Austria, in what promises to be a memorable event.

Scheduled to take place from July 28 to August 6, 2017, next year's Beach Volleyball World Championships will follow on from the event held in the four Dutch cities of The Hague, Amsterdam, Apeldoorn and Rotterdam in 2015.

The competition will feature the best 48 men's and women's teams, a total of 192 athletes, and feature 208 matches, with 12 pools per gender and four teams per pool. The top teams will share a million dollar prize fund.

Fans attending the World Championships will also enjoy a variety of side events, including a Beach Village, a youth and leisure fair, an evening festival programme and a party zone featuring live music.

The player area will feature a chill-out zone, catering and accommodation as well as access to medical care.

Over 500 national and international journalists are expected to attend the event, providing coverage to fans and television viewers around the world. The international TV rights will be managed by Red Bull Media House.
