The Netherlands has won both meetings against Brazil in FIVB World Tour competition, also winning 2-0 in the FIVB Fort Lauderdale Major Series in February.
The Netherlands finished Pool C at 2-1 and won the pool based on point ratio while Brazil, also at 2-1, finished in 3rd place. Also in Pool C, Canada's Julie Gordon/Camille Saxton finished 2-1 in 2nd place and Gaudencia Makokha/Naomie Too of Kenya finished in 4th place at 0-3.
The Netherlands has advanced to the knockout phase and will play Wednesday, 2 August. Brazil will have to wait to see if it advances directly into the knockout phase or plays in a "lucky" loser later today to advance.
