Piotr Kantor, Poland – “We have to take this step by step and focus on the pool. We want to win all our pool play matches and see what happens in the next round. That was the first time we have seen that team from Paraguay, we asked some coaches but nobody knew anything about them. I think we have to focus on the game and there was pressure on us early. The first game of the World Championships there is a little more stress. In general I think the game was not as good as we would have liked but we are happy that we won.”
Gregorio Godoy, Paraguay – “This is a mix of sentiments, as we are very, very excited about this tournament. It is the first time Paraguay has qualified for the World Championships, so sometimes it makes us a little bit more nervous as this is a lot of responsibility. We need to play more without worrying about the points and just enjoy the game. We knew Poland was the favorite, they are one of the top teams in the world right now. They didn’t know anything about us at first; they tried to serve me and then my partner, and we were winning late in the first set. In the second set they knew us better though.”
