South American Beach Volleyball Tour reaches final stage

Lausanne, Switzerland, May 5, 2017 – The final stage of the men’s South American Beach Volleyball Tour will get under way this weekend in Maringa, Brazil. The tournament’s big prize for the seven teams from seven countries competing will be four places at the FIVB World Championship.

Saymon/ Alvaro will lead the charge for the host country Brazil, who lead the overall rankings with 700 points.

The champions of each tournament are awarded 200 points, the runners-up 180, third 160, and each subsequent place 20 points less than the previous position.

Chile currently has 660 points, followed by Argentina with 600.

The 2017 season is composed of six regular stops and a final stage, which gives more points. The final ranking of the 2017 Circuit will be added to that of the previous season to classify the four countries to be given a ticket to the World Championship in Austria.

Robson Xavier, who chairs the organizing committee, believes the finals will be great for the fans: “Only the best come here and everyone wants to seal their passport for the World Championship. We are sure the fans will enjoy some great matches.”
