The Fins qualified for their first appearance in the FIVB World Championships via their international ranking points. Lahti and Lehtonen formed their partnership mid-way through the 2014 FIVB World Tour season and missed qualifying for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games after being eliminated in the finals of the European Continental Cup competition. The pair has captured two European tour challenger gold medals in 2014 and 2016. Their best placements on the FIVB World Tour were a fourth in 2014 in Russia and a second in 2016 in Turkey. To create depth among Finnish teams in 2017, Lahti is playing in alternating events with both Lehtonen and Anniina Parkkinen.
