Due to a right shoulder injury for three-time Olympic and world champion Kerri Walsh Jennings at the last FIVB World Tour event in Poland, Day was named as a replacement player.  The Branagh/Walsh Jennings partnership qualified for the 2017 FIVB World Championships via the NORCECA continental qualifying rounds.  Branagh teamed with Elaine Youngs to finish fifth at both the 2007 and 2009 world champions.  Branagh and Young were also quarter-finalists at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.  A member of the U.S. National Team from 2001-2003, Branagh started playing on the FIVB World Tour in 2006 and captured a gold medal with Elaine Youngs in 2008 in Barcelona.  Day, who started playing on the FIVB World Tour in 2011, has placed 17th in two previous world championships with Summer Ross (2013) and Jen Kessy (2015).  Day’s best FIVB finishes were posted in 2013 highlighted by a second-place finish in the season’s finale event in Thailand with Ross.  Earlier that season, “Summer Day” combination placed fourth at the United States stop in Long Beach.
