As one of the more experienced teams in the 2017 FIVB World Championships with over 40 international starts together, Wang and Yue qualified for Vienna event via the international ranking allotment. The Chinese pair will be competing in their second FIVB World Championships after placing fifth at the 2015 event in The Netherlands where Wang and Yue eliminated Americans April Ross and Kerri Walsh Jennings and lost to eventual gold medal winners Agatha Bednarczuk and Barbara Seixas of Brazil in the quarter-finals. Wang and Yue placed ninth in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games where the Chinese lost to both Ross/Walsh Jennings (pool play) and Agatha/Barbara (elimination first round). Wang played in her first FIVB World Tour event in 2010 and Yue in 2006. The Wang/Yue partnership has netted three silver medal finishes on the FIVB World Tour.
